Latronic Notron

The extremely rare and fun to play hardware sequencer was also included in the Millennium Dome as an Industrial Design marvel (before the Dome became a sports arena). The Notron raises MIDI message generation to an artform allowing lucky owners to paint with flourishes of controller and note information. DSPaudio's "Nortron" should be considered a competitor of the Notron rather than a clone. The comparison below draws out the differences:

Notron
   + Physical, playa's interface
   + Liquid MIDI streams
   + Esoteric tuning tables
   - Song creation (linking patterns) difficult
   - Global pattern changing only!
   - Delayed pattern switching
+ Songs are saved with 16 linked patterns
   - Stores only 64 patterns
   - No new features or development
   - Heavy to travel with
   - All information except triggers hidden
   - Supersteps are hard coded
   + Sample Loop BPM calculation
   - Cost and Availability $1500-2200
   - Rare

Nortron:
   + Unusually playable (fo sophtwazz)
   + Liquid MIDI streams
   + Esoteric tuning tables
   + Songs created as played
+ Global & Local pattern changes (unlinked)
   + Instant pattern switching
+ Songs saved with 128 embedded patterns
+ Storage only limited by user HD space
   + Continued Development
   + Light weight (0 kg)
+ Software UI makes ~all information visible
   + Ultrasteps user defined
   - No BPM Loop Calculation Mode (at this time)
   + MIDI processing
   + MIDI performance modes
+ VSTi, VST, Rewire, IAC, MIDI support
